私のもの（所有代名詞）
所有格 my の後の名詞は省略できないので，名詞のくり返しをさけるときは，＜ my ＋名詞＞を mine に置き換える。
- This computer is mine. このコンピュータは私のものです。
- This computer is my computer. では computer をくり返すことになるので，ふつう mine を使ってくり返しをさける。
- Whose notebook is this? これはだれのノートですか。
- ／ It is mine. それは私のものです。
- It is my notebook. よりも，くり返しをさけた It is mine. の方がふつうの答え方である。
指す内容によって，mine は単数にも複数にもなる。
- This book is mine. この本は私のものです。
- mine ＝ my book
- These books are mine. これらの本は私のものです。
- mine ＝ my books
【注意】
a ，the ，this ，that などと my は同時に使えないので，of mine を使って，次のように言う。
- a friend of mine 私の友人（a my friend は間違い！）
- this book of mine この私の本（ this my book は間違い！）
