- everyday clothes 普段着
つねに clothes と書き，複数としてあつかう。単数形が cloth とか clothe で，その複数形が clothes というわけではない。
【参考１】
cloth や clothe と書くと，次のような意味になる。
- cloth ……「布」という意味の名詞。複数形は cloths となる。
- clothe ……「［人］に衣服を着せる」という意味の動詞。三人称・単数・現在の s がつくと clothes となる。
【参考２】
ひとそろいの衣服（上着，ベスト，ズボンまたはスカートなど）を数えるときは，次のようにいう。
- a suit of clothes 服一着
- two suits of clothes 服二着
